The Great Barrier Reef is a world-renowned natural wonder located off the coast of Cairns, Queensland, Australia. It is the largest coral reef system in the world, spanning over 2,300 kilometers (1,400 miles) and is home to an incredible diversity of marine life.

Family day at the Cairns Aquarium!

The Cairns Aquarium is a popular tourist attraction located in the heart of Cairns, Queensland, Australia. It's a world-class aquarium featuring over 16,000 marine and freshwater animals from the Great Barrier Reef and other tropical regions around the world. Visitors can explore a range of exhibits, including the Coral Sea exhibit, the River Monsters exhibit, and the Deep Sea exhibit. The aquarium also offers several interactive experiences, such as touch tanks and guided tours, allowing visitors to get up close and personal with the marine life. Overall, the Cairns Aquarium is a must-visit attraction for anyone interested in the marine life of Australia and the tropics.

The kids absolutely loved it, and we took our time exploring the freshwater fishes, the rainforest information, the Great Barrier Reef displays and at the end the big shark tanks. It's important to take it all in slowly, you can easily walk through it all in 15 minutes when a bit excited, and it is worth the extra time.

We’re impressed how informative it is, through the whole walk there’s attractive information signage, movies, and live presentations about the Great Barrier Reef. The shark tank is fabulous, it feels like you’re under the water and amongst all the larger species of the ocean. You're so close that you just want to reach out and touch them when they slowly swim over your head.

They have a lot of activities and events going on, for example the “ aquarium by twilight ” experience, the “ aquatic themed restaurant ”, marine life encounters and “ marina life encounters ”.
